Fly With The Color of The Sky: Jodhpur Through a Bikers Eye

Updated: Sep 23, 2019

Jodhpur popularly known as the blue city is also known for many other things apart from its colored houses. It presents the preliminary stages of desert life and its intricacies. The painted mud walls and thatched houses. Goats, camels and sheep form an integral part of the desert culture since people survive by rearing these animals. The aesthetic sense of the natives, costumes and customs are all tailor made according to the incumbent ecology of the region. When you plan to travel Jodhpur on bike, go for Padharo platform for bike rental services. Riding through such tough landscape needs a tough bike and biking skills as well. So trust us when it comes to biking.

Day 1

Ghanta Ghar : There is a story about this monument is that there was a king who ordered a British company for this clock and paid 1 Lakh for its construction, 1 Lakh for transportation and 1 Lakh for copyright of the design. Other than this piece of information the rest of the story vanishes like a stream in the rock bed. Next head towards Jodhpur bazaar. It’s an old market with narrow lanes and is usually crowded. When you are in Jodhpur never forget to try the Rajasthani thali at least once. The whole idea behind the thali is that you can get 6 different flavors in one plate: sweet, salty, bitter, sour, astringent and spicy. It is basically a party for your taste buds.

Day 2

Head for Mehrangarh Fort which closes by 5 PM. Since the temperature may go up by 12pm, hence I will advise the travellers to visit the fort as early as possible. Carry drinking water, cap and sun glasses to make the walk to the fort as comfortable as possible. The fort is situated on a hill top, 125mts above the ground level. The panoramic view of the blue city looks mesmerizing with the first rays of the sun.

For a bit adventurous, you can actually go zip-lining inside the fort! The Flying Fox consists of 6 separate zip lines which fly around the fort, and give you a bird’s eye view of the gardens and the desert lakes. For an extraordinary experience dine in a popular restaurant located within the fort is Chokelao Mahal Terrace which only opens in the evenings and offers fine dining with views of Mehrangarh Fort all lit up at night. You can also visit the Rao Jodha desert rock park.

When you are in Mehrangarh fort touch, Mehrangarh Museum as well which showcases the life style of the royals. It is worth visiting this place because I am talking about the palace where the Rathores (the rulers of Jodhpur) once lived.

In my opinion, Jodhpur has one of the best sunsets in all of India, which means you’re going to want to find a rooftop to watch the magic happen. To escalate your experience, stay in a haveli which happen to be old mansions which have been transformed into luxury hotels. Get a feel of the life of the royals retrospectively.

Jodhpur is a beautiful traditional city but modernity has made inroads into the life style of the people gradually. Since Jodhpur happens to be part of the desert land scape I will advise you to plan the tour between October to March. For best tour packages in Jodhpur book with Padharo which is a concierge to take care of all your travel needs. We travel with you to make your travel smoother.
